For one of the largest supermarket\u00a0chains in the UK, precise inventory planning is therefore\u00a0particularly important in order to minimize inventory\u00a0costs and avoid markdowns.\u00a0Due to the various systems in use, Sainsbury\u2019s inventory\u00a0data was inconsistent, and one version of the truth did\u00a0not exist. Manually preparing Excel spreadsheets was\u00a0not only time-consuming, but also frequently led to\u00a0errors. Inventory numbers in the replenishment order\u00a0system were therefore often inaccurate, resulting in an\u00a0increased workload and delivery delays. Board was introduced\u00a0as a stock replenishment system (SRS) in the\u00a0non-food sector in order to solve these issues. In the\u00a0first project phase, which was led by Board itself, the\u00a0tool was fi rst introduced to the general merchandise division.\u00a0In this phase, bdg supported Board in exporting\u00a0data. Based on Board data,\u00a0automatic reports were to be generated along with triggers\u00a0for concrete actions in inventory management,\u00a0such as sending goods from the warehouse centre to a\u00a0supermarket branch. For this purpose, Board would be\u00a0used to create a consistent database from the various\u00a0pre-systems and to automate inventory optimization in\u00a0the clothing division.
