As KFC\u00a0grew, so did the planning requirements, and the initial\u00a0Excel-based planning system consequently needed to\u00a0be updated. This was because KFC\u2019s restaurant planning\u00a0required the planning of sales, resources and\u00a0many different variables such as electricity, uniforms\u00a0and security. Source data drawn from different sources\u00a0and the manual preparation of the data in Excel files\u00a0made the planning at KFC a very time-consuming and\u00a0potentially error-prone business. In particular, subsequent\u00a0changes and planning scenarios were an extremely\u00a0cumbersome and labour-intensive process due\u00a0to the many variables that have to be adjusted in Excel\u00a0following even a minor change in the targets. After a thorough\u00a0software evaluation, it became clear that BOARD\u00a0best meets KFC\u2019s requirements for planning, especially\u00a0because of the ease-of-use and fast processing and\u00a0evaluation time of the data. A central data source (single\u00a0point of truth) as well as integrated calculations of\u00a0the main drivers and KPIs was to be created in BOARD\u00a0in order to automate the planning process as much as\u00a0possible.
